Dream:
Magic and Invisible
Dream:
Magic and Invisible
Thursday, February 14, 2008
I am sleeping in a bed in a restaurant of sorts. Two people walk through a door. The first is a woman. She is wearing a sweatshirt but from the waist down, she is invisible. The second is a man. He is wearing jeans but from the waist up, he is invisible.
Surprised, I sit up in my bed in the restaurant. It is dark, but there is a spotlight above my bed...a very bright, white spotlight. I watch the couple walk out another door.
More people come into the restaurant. Each person that comes in is invisible in various places. One woman’s arms are invisible. Another’s torso. Another’s head.
At first I’m scared. I get that bad-dream-gripping fear that makes you feel like you’ll never wake up and you can’t take a breath.
Then a woman comes over to the bed. She’s the first person who actually sees and acknowledges me. “It’s a gift,” she says. “Becoming invisible. Cool, huh?” And then she disappears completely.
I relax. “Superhero,” I say out loud. My feet begin to disappear.

(When I wake up...for real...in my own bed...that’s not in a restaurant...I say to myself, “I want a cape, too.”)
