My debut novel, Thirsty, is being published by Swallow Press in 2009.

I know I’ve been blogging about the process of writing my second novel, so I imagine many of you are thinking, “I haven’t heard about this novel? Which novel is this? What the heck is Kristin talking about now?”

Thirsty is my first novel...the one I started way back in grad school, worked on off and on for a number of years, and finally finished a few years ago. It tells the story of Klara Bozic, a Croatian immigrant who has to find the strength to leave an abusive husband and lay claim to her own peaceful spot in the world. The question is, can she do it?

It’s a family saga that explores domestic abuse, race, class, and Pittsburgh’s mighty steel industry at the turn of the twentieth century.
